Silvermines GAA Notes
County Hurling League
We overcame a strong Moyne-Templetouhy side in our final league game in Dolla on Friday evening last in what proved a hard-fought contest. Goals in the opening half from Danny Quinn and Danny Keogh saw the home side lead narrowly at the break but in essence it provided the foundation for a hard-earned 2-15 to 2-14 victory. Despite the victory we do not progress to the knock-out stages with Borrisokane and Newport going forward.
Our Juniors overcame Fr. Sheehy’s by 3-17 to 1-13 in Division 5. Silvermines led by 2-7 to 0-7 at the break and pushed on in the second half to record a fully deserved ten-point victory. With only one side going through from Division 5, namely Galtee Rovers, our respective league campaigns for our juniors and our seniors are now over. Our focus will now turn to preparing for this year’s county and north championships.
