Junior B’s
Our Junior B side had a fantastic but hard earned 1-18 to 1-16 win over Newport in the North Junior B championship at the weekend. Sympathy
Silvermines GAA Club would like to extend sincere sympathies to the families of Seamus Bourke, Boulteeny and Nancy Ryan, Capparoe who both passed to their eternal reward recently.
Nancy Ryan, who only recently turned 100 years of age was a daughter of Martin Gleeson who was a member of the North Tipperary team who won the first officially recognised competition in GAA history in 1886 when Silvermines defeated Holycross. The cup presented on that day, the Silver Cup, now resides in the GAA museum in Croke Park but returned to the parish of the Silvermines for Nancy’s funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Silvermines.
